PYRUVATE DOES NOT IMPROVE PERFORMANCE IN FEMALES

Ehler, L., Sanders, M., & Antonio, J. (2000). Effects of low dose pyruvate on body composition, endurance, and muscular strength in moderately fit females. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 32(5), Supplement abstract 141.

A 6-week study assessed the effectiveness of pyruvate on body composition and exercise performance in moderately fit females (N = 13). No significant difference was observed in lower extremity muscular strength and time to exhaustion on a treadmill between pyruvate and placebo groups.

Implication. Pyruvate does not improve exercise performance in females.
