CHILDREN OF BOTH GENDERS HAVE SIMILAR ANAEROBIC CAPACITIES
Riner, W. F., McCarthy, M. L., DeCillis, L. V., & Ward, D. S. (1998). Anaerobic performance in girls and boys, aged 7 to 10 years. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 30(5), Supplement abstract 1728.
Boys (N = 7) and girls (N = 7) were compared on the Wingate Anaerobic Test, aerobic capacity, and body density.
There was no difference between the genders, each having a similar capacity for high intensity work. Individual differences were explained by body size. Both groups were equivalent in aerobic capacity.
Implication. Children of both genders have similar anaerobic capacities.
