HERBAL FORMULATION IMPROVES LACTATE METABOLISM DURING RECOVERY

Morrissey, S., Wang, R., & Burke, E. R. (1998). Evaluation of the effects of a complex herbal formulation on lactate metabolism. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 30(5), Supplement abstract 1576.

A formulation of standardized herbal ingredients was evaluated for its effect on lactate clearance after maximal exercise. Males (N = 30) were divided into three groups: control, 500 mg/day, and 1000 mg/day.

After two weeks, the high dosage group improved in blood lactate clearance mechanisms whereas the other two groups did not.

It was concluded that a herbal formulation can improve the energy metabolism of lactate in the muscle during recovery.

Implication. Herbal formulation improves lactate metabolism during recovery.
