BEER IS NOT GOOD FOR POST-EXERCISE REHYDRATION

Hetzler, R. K., Titichinal, C. A., Lally, D., & Kahle, P. L. (2000). The effects of alcohol in been on rehydration after exercise in females. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 32(5), Supplement abstract 1147.

Beer and non-alcoholic beer ingestion in rehydration was studied in females (N = 7). After exercise, Ss ingested either beverage in an amount equal to the fluid loss produced by extended exercise.

Fluid retention, after exercise induced dehydration, was greater with non-alcoholic beer rehydration than with beer.

Implication. Beer after exercise does not produce the best rate of rehydation.
