FEMALES' SPRINT REPETITIONS ARE NOT HELPED BY CREATINE

Buckley, D., Georges, A., Picard, G., Andrews, S., Wygand, J., & Otto, R. M. (2002). The effect of creatine supplementation during repeated Wingate trials in active females. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 34(5), Supplement abstract 814.

Active females (N = 9) performed three 30-s Wingate tests with three minutes of recovery between trials. Ss experienced a creatine supplementation condition (6.8 g creatine in Gatorade three times per day) and a placebo. Pre- and post-treatment measures were obtained.

There were no performance differences between the treatment conditions. Short-term creatine supplementation did not improve the anaerobic performance capability of females.

Implication. Creatine supplementation did not help females to sprint repeatedly.
