Members of a university track team were studied. It was shown that an interpersonal skills training program enhanced interpersonal skills and produced a positive relationship between those skills and performing above ability level.
Implication. High interpersonal attraction and cohesiveness are effective in team success. Mental skills training in this realm is necessary particularly when coaching team sports.
