CREATINE DOES NOT AFFECT SHORT ANAEROBIC PERFORMANCE

Pfeifer, P. C., Bull, A. J., Moore, G. A., & Joshi, M. (2005). The effect of 5 days of creatine supplementation on anaerobic indices of a Wingate Test. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 37(5), Supplement abstract 237.

Ss (M = 8; F = 2) were tested under two conditions. One was the ingestion of a maltodextrin placebo and the other ingested 5 gm of creatine citrate and 233 mg of sodium bicarbonate. The powders were dissolved in water four times per day for five days. A 30-sec Wingate Test was performed before and after each treatment.

No significant effects or interactions were revealed for power or anaerobic performance.

Implication. Five days of creatine loading did not affect short-duration anaerobic performance.
