CREATINE DOES NOT AFFECT HEAT REGULATION

Barkdull, T., J., O'Brien, K. K., Bathalon, G. P., Armstrong, D. W., & Deuster, P. A. (2000). Cratine's effects on heat dissipation during submaximal aerobic exercise. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 32(5), Supplement abstract 455.

Creatine increases muscle phosphocreatine stores and therefore, may result in greater heat generation. This investigation used Ranger military personnel (N = 16) who performed both a 10-mile march and 5-mile run after five days of creatine supplementation and at one and three months after the treatment. Placebo and creatine supplements were compared.

Creatine supplementation minimally affected core body temperature and did not contribute to increased heat-associated problems.

Implication. Creatine supplementation does not affect heat regulation.
