BRIEF CREATINE SUPPLEMENTATION DOES NOT IMPROVE ISOKINETIC FAST PERFORMANCES

Gilliam, J. D., Hohzom, C., & Martin, A. D. (1998). Effect of creatine supplementation on isokinetic force production. Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 30(5), Supplement abstract 793.

Untrained males (N = 23) performed exhaustive tests on the right quadriceps on a Cybex II dynamometer at 180 deg/s. After five days of either a placebo or creatine (4 x 5 gm/d plus 1 gm glucose) supplementation Ss were retested.

There was no ergogenic effect of oral creatine supplementation on peak torque during isokinetic exercise at 180 deg/s.

Implication. Creatine supplementation does not affect exhaustive fast isokinetic movements.
