CREATINE DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH THERMOREGULATION

The effects of creatine supplementation on thermal and cardiovascular responses during exercise in the heat were studied. Ss were placed in a creatine (N = 8) or placebo (N = 8) group. The exercise was a cycle ergometer ride for 45 minutes at 55% VO2max in a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Creatine supplementation was 20 gm/day with Gatorade for five days, and the placebo group was a placebo in Gatorade.
Creatine did not show a negative effect on thermoregulation during exercise in the heat. It was associated with lower cardiac pumping pressure (i.e., lower systolic and mean arterial pressures).
Implication. Creatine supplementation does not interfere with thermoregulation.
